SAFE WORLD OF THE YEARS PASSED

I've always loved it when mom tells me stories about when she was a child.
I love the way she makes everything sound safe and nice when she narretes it. And charming and peaceful. In fact, it's not just the way she makes it sound but it's the way it was. Safe. Unfortunately, we don't have that calmness nowadays.

I remember her telling me that, when she was approximately seven, she and her sisters and brothers once spent the whole way away from home. They woke up very early that morning, although it was Sunday, and the five of them went out for a walk along the river bank in town. They came across a blackberry tree full of thorns and decided to rest there. Actually, mom told me they fell asleep beneath the welcoming shade the tree provided.

They woke up in the evening, starving because they hadn't had anything to eat since they left home looking for adventure that morning, so my mom and auts and uncles made their way home and got there at night. As surprising as it may seem, the only thing their mother told them when she saw them standing there in front of the main door was something like "Now help me set the table. Your father's about to come".
It is really disturbing how things have changed till now, when it's never safe to let your children out of your hands whenever you go to the park, walk down the street or even go to the corner's shop. It turns out the only certainty you have now to ensure your children are safe is to keep them locked in.
